Takeaways... Convenience or is ignorance bliss?

Auckland prepares for Covid-19 Alert Level 3… And the only difference to Level 4 this round is that you can order or contactless collect takeaways.
Following a meeting with my team – online of course, I asked them what would be their go to and what excites them about this shift towards ‘freedom’. Surprisingly, the biggest want was the act of visiting a local coffee shop on a walk. How amazing that they are all keen to support local but also not rush to the nearest KFC like so many are posting about on social media.

Working in the fitness industry doesn’t always mean you are surrounded by clean eating, healthy lifestyle enthusiasts… In fact sometimes it creates poor habits as many assume they can ‘ out train a poor diet’. So I found this refreshing and was rather proud of the team I lead. It got us discussing; what is so appealing about takeaway food, besides the taste of course. Which in itself can be a red flag… Our culture has made it so much more accessible, acceptable and the daily norm to NOT prepare and eat our own meals. Sometimes convenience or a catchup with friends on ‘occasion’ I understand is totally fair reason, but much of the time we have 0 knowledge of all that is included, who cooks it, how it is cooked, how clean it is both with regards to cleanliness and produce, the oils used, how much added sugar…the list goes on.
Is it that ignorance is bliss??? Consider next time you reach for the uber eats app or grab and go because you chose not to prepare lunch the day before, is this serving me? Am I stepping back from my goals? Am I providing my body with the nutrients it deserves?

Food for thought 
I always love to assist my clients with top tips for eating out, the smallest things to consider can really assist damage limitation and your body will always thank you for it.
